Rita Edwards Miller School Code of Conduct
Miller School Code of Conduct Make "SMART" Choices
This code has been developed in order to help the students of the Miller School be "SMART" children by demonstrating responsible behavior which is the expectation of our parents, staff and community. We ask that you go over this Code with your child and reinforce at home, the behaviors which we will be emphasizing at school. Together we hope that each child will be Safe, Mannered, Accepting, Respectful and a Team player.
SAFETY
Walk quietly thorough the halls and stairways. Never leave an area without telling an adult. No running on the woodchips in the structure area outside. No climbing on top of the structure. No jumping off the
structure. No pushing, shoving or hitting. (RememberÖ Hands are for Helping.) No sharing food.
MANNERS
Using Manners is treating others the way you want to be treated. It is using words like Please, Thank You and Youíre Welcome. It is holding a door open for someone. It is picking up something for someone who has dropped something. You use good manners in the cafeteria when you use your utensils to eat, chew your food with your mouth closed and when you say Excuse Me when you burp or belch. Having good manners is remembering to speak to one another using a kind voice. Using good manners that you learned at home or at school shows everyone that you are polite and care about others.
ACCEPTING
Treat others the way you would like to be treated. Everyone can play- donít leave anyone out. Invite someone to join you or your group. Make new friends. Share your materials and your work and play space. Never tell someone they can't sit with you. Never laugh at someone if they make a mistake. Never ìmake funî of someone because they are different than you. Enjoy each others differences.
RESPECTING
Be a good listener. Give others enough space. Never tease anyone or call them names... Word can hurt. Listen and be polite to adults at school. (This includes lunch and recess aides, bus drivers, custodians, and teacher aides.) Wait your turn. Treat school materials and property with care. Take care of your things and the belongings of others. Donít take others things without asking. Use good manners... Say "Please", "Thank you", "Your Welcome"and "Excuse Me".
TEAMWORK
Be a team player. Work together to get things done. Share. Play Fair. Follow the rules. Help others... Remember, we all need help sometimes.
